Blood pressure measure the force of blood against your artery walls. When it is consistently high, it can weaken your blood vessels and significantly increase your risk of heart attack, stroke and kidney failure, to name just a few...
High blood pressure...also know as the "Silent Killer", even though you don't feel it...the tiny arteries that feed your tissue close off, first by the thousands and then by the millions, so all parts of your body are losing blood supply.
How can you take control? How can you "Empower Yourself?"
The consequences of high blood pressure can be deadly. The primary area affected is the kidneys. Over time the kidneys may shrink, ultimately leading to kidney failure. Uncontrolled high blood pressure also can lead to dementia. Most people equate dementia with Alzheimer's but that is only one cause. High blood pressure can affect the arteries in your brain, causing them to shut down. Uncontrolled high blood pressure also can lead to cardiac hypertrophy, congestive heart failure, pulmonary hypertension, liver congestion, peripheral and central edema, as well as headaches...to name just a few...
Here are a few lifestyle changes that can lower blood pressure...
1.] Maintain a healthy weight
2.] Cut down on salt
3.] Stress less
4.] Exercise
5.] Limit alcohol
These are just a few simple things that can dramatically alter your blood pressure and ultimate your health as well as your lifestyle. Each individual has to gauge how to go about changing old habits and "Empowering Yourself." With my next post, I will give some creative but simple suggestions as to how to effect these changes. As with anything, change comes with determination and focus. When you enact these proactive measures...you "Empower Yourself."
